573.0. "Oracle Backup Strategy" by BAHTAT::BLYTHE (Ee bah gum th's trouble at t'mill) Mon Feb 19 1990 10:47
We've got a customer (ex-Rdb and Rally as it happens) that hhas
now got Oracle V6.0, TPO, and a 6320 (yes, we all know it doesn't
work, yes, Oracle have already pushed Unix and been told to *&^$%^
off with it, yes, Rally was seen as a heap of ^*%^&^).
Anyway, they are now worried about their backup strategy. Oracle
say they can back up by area, (whether it works or not is another
question). The customer is considering shadow disks to back up
from, so if anything goes wrong during backup, they can always get
to the position they were just before thay started. Anybody got
an Oracle backup strategy ?
