Can someone help me, or point me in the right direction????
I've been assigned the task to find out what the feasibility
is of converting code from IBM'S SQL/DS (MVS/XA), and DB2
(VM/370, DOS/VSE, VSE/SP) to DEC'S RDB.
I need to find out similarities/differences with issues such as
- invoking SQL
- compatibility of languages
- schema/ subschema environment
- table environment.
Basically, I'm suppose to find out how difficult it would be to
do this conversion, if at all possible.
I'm not that familiar with IBM's products, and I'm new to DEC
so I'm kinda lost.
I'd appreciate any help or suggestions on where to start my research.
Mail can be sent to TPSYS::[WEBSTER], or I can be reached at
DTN 227-4395.
Thanks,
Stacey

First problem...DB2 runs only on MVS/XA (Soon to be /ESA only).
SQL/DS runs on VM and VSE.
You might want to talk to the VIDA development group since they
interfaced their Rdb-based product to DB2.

Doesn't the VAX SQL documentation discuss compatibility with DB2
and SQL/DS?

That's one of the only places I've been able to locate any
information from. Thanks!

I was given that list of OS's, it's all new to me, (IBM, I mean).
I talked to someone in the VIDA group, they couldn't really help --
they suggested the VAX SQL reference manual.
Thanks.

re: .2
Appendix C of the SQL Ref Guide (SQL v2.0) covers differences from DB2.
Is there a source of information (anywhere) specifically for SQL/DS?
