537.0. "Ingres Support for Replicated Databases?" by TOWNS::BUZZERD (Why NOT Rdb ??) Tue Jan 16 1990 23:56

I am looking for informatin about what the newest version of Ingres
(6.3, I think) offers in the way of support for replicated databases.

    Thanks for any help,

That I know of. VAX Rdb/VMS is, I believe, the only product currently offering
a form of database replication.
537.2not sure what INGRES has - we have VDDCREDIT::WATSONthe right ons hath itThu Jan 18 1990 14:5310
According to the only INGRES person I've asked, they do not have
replcation, but they do have facilities that would "make it easy to
do". Hmmm. They did not introduce it as a new feature in 6.3, so if
you know about 6.2, then please let us know here.

Hal, Rdb/VMs does not provide replication. VAX Data Distributor does.
(I know you know this, but I don't want anyone to read their rdb docset
    looking for the replication manual.)

537.3That's a packaging issue (and a bad one, it should be packaged with Rdb/VMS!)COOKIE::BERENSONWords are a deadly weaponThu Jan 18 1990 16:446

Funny, my reference manual has all the replication commands :-)
