516.0. "Oracle Training" by MAIL::DUNCANG (Gerry Duncan @KCO) Wed Dec 13 1989 18:59

Just received my Oracle Education Center Schedule for January-June
    1990. Highlights:

    - 51 courses
    	- 18 are application specific (gl, ap, etc)

    - It is broken into 6 tracks:
    	- systems design
    	- application design
    	- database admin
    	- technical support
    	- info center consulting
    	- end user courses

For the first five paths, there is a masters cirriculum where
you can become a "certified" Oracle Master. [Think how attractive
the "master" path must be for an Oracle bigot.]

    - SQL*forms Version 2 to 3 "Transition"

"Topics include: the version 3 deisgner interface, converting V2
triggers to V4 triggers ..." [Ah hah .... the used the "C" word ...
    convert !!!]

    - The tuning class covers both version 5 and version 6. [Daddy, this
mean that Oracle ISN'T Oracle everywhere ? Yes, son, Oracle V6 is a
different product .... I lied to you.]

    - Intro to PL/SQL ".. introduces PL/SQL technology and its use in its
initial environments: SQL*plus, SQL*DBA, and the Oracle programmatic
interfaces, version 6 TPS and SQL*forms V3 and higher. [Let's see,
they've changed the product name back to V6 TPS ? That's strange,
SQL*report and SQL*qmx are not listed as supporting PL/SQL. Nice
integration guys, real nice... little late to market ?]

    - Almost all of the "elective" sources are "offered only at your
    site". [Nice account control.]

    - You can call Oracle Travel [no kidding] for discounted air fares.
[No, there's not an Oracle Air .... yet. Besides, it would be called
    SQL*air or AIR*Larry. ]

    - If you have an IBM PC or compatible, you can call for a free diskette
that will give you an interactive training plan. The diskette
produces complete Oracle course schedules for each learning path,
location information of education centers, details of each course,
gives instructions on how to perform phone-in registration, and
lets you print your customized, final schedule including dates,
prices, and locations. [Nice touch, very nice.]

Finally, one little paragraph at the back:

"Oracle provides generic C language and UNIS training designed to
give you maximun [yes, it's mispelled] benefit from our rich
    [literally] experience with these technolgies."
