511.0. "Oracle can now access RMS" by KCBBQ::DUNCAN (Oracle ... the designer database) Wed Dec 06 1989 19:52

From ad on page 5, MIS week, November 20, which compares Oracle OS/2 server to
Ashton-Tate SQL Server, Oracle says:

"Transparent access to data in other vendor's databases:
	IBM's DB2 and SQL/DS, and Digital's RMS."

511.1YEP, there working on itIJSAPL::OLTHOFHenny Olthof @UTO 838-2021Fri Dec 08 1989 08:379
    From what I've heared from my customer this RMS support is implemented
    in Holland and is currently fieldtested at some sites. The customer was
    rather surprised when I told him a month ago, that Oracle will claim to
    support RMS in a short timeframe.

    Implementation seems to be rather clumsy though anf of course there's
    no CDD integration.

511.3Requires V6 of OracleMAIL::DUNCANGGerry Duncan @KCOThu Dec 28 1989 23:5914
    Just received my Winter 1990 issue of Oracle magazine. In it is
    an article about SQL*connect for RMS. It requires Oracle V6.0 and
    is read only.

    In order to access data, you DO have to change your query to indicate
    it is destined for RMS. An example they have listed:

    	"SELECT * FROM EMP@RMS"

    As you can see, this is very much different than changing a logical
    name and certainly not transparent.
