HP has two realtime databases that they deliver as part of their
Industrial Precision Tools (IPTs). RTDB targeted at discrete and
process factory floor, and RTAP targeted at Supervisory Process control
instrument data acquisition (SCADA). Both are memory resident, but
RTDB is more table focused, while RTAP is more point focused.

RTDB runs on HP 9000 Series 300 and Series 900(Percision
    Architecture/RISC based)

RTDB is a high performance memory resident database (pseudo relational)
with an SQL like interface. RTDB supports access from both C and
    FORTRAN.

The product first shipped in July 1988.

Advanced Manufacturing Reasearch (AMR) estimates that as of August 1989
HP sales of RTDB are less than 50 copies, split evenly between USA and
    international.

HP Design and Automation November 1988 has a niec review of the
product. If your interested, send me mailand I'll FAX you a copy.
