483.0. "Problems installing ORACLE" by COL01::GUMPEL () Wed Nov 08 1989 12:27

    I' m doing a testinstallation of PCSA in a multi-server area on
    customer site and have a problem installing ORACLE on a VS-2000.
    Everytime we run the install-utility to instal ORACLE we get the
    error message:

    %LINK-E-CONFMEM, CONFLICTING VIRTUAL MEMORY REQUIREMENT
    AT %00141400 FOR 1. PAGES IN CLUSTER ORAPAD

    We tried to set VIRTUALPAGECNT, but it does still not work. Has
    anybody an idea what to do?

    Thanks

    Double check the Oracle installation instructions. Oracle SGA (pad)
    area requires some hefty quotas and the number of global sections
    required is based on the SGA area parameters.

    I'm really curious though, why don't you call Oracle ?? After all,
    it is their product.
483.2Call ORACLE, make them fix itWIBBIN::NOYCEBill Noyce, FORTRAN/PARALLELWed Nov 08 1989 16:106
    This isn't an error message from INSTALL, it's from LINK. What
    exactly are you doing?

    ORACLE has historically built a "based" shareable image, for no
    good reason I can think of. It has always caused trouble when a
    new version of VMS arrives. What versions are you using?
483.3Why don't they use R(DB)EAL stuff?COL01::GUMPELWed Nov 08 1989 17:108
    Bill!

    I'm using VMS 5.1.1. My customer tries to fix it with ORACLE, but it
    looks as if they do not have the kind of support for VMS here in
    Germany, we need.
