I have a customer who has a lot of micro vaxes and Oracle. One of their staff has got an assignment - "Does oracle run under Ultrix - if so, is the work to be done converting VMS Oracle sytems to Ultrix Oracle systems a) Easy b) Do-able c) Enormous ?" (In the end, we wish this customer to switch from Oracle to Rdb - but the customer has a lot of applications alredy written in Oracle - however, as Oracle claims that it is SQL compatible, I wonder what the effort to change from Oracle to Rdb is ? - has anybody any experience/pointers - references would also be nice). Jon Blythe.

Also, ORACLE has their own security. They are not integrated into VMS security like RDB is. So in ORACLE, you need to login to the database. Other issues are ORACLE's PRO*C vs VAX C... todd |
