416.0. "Oracle doesn't run on V5.2 ?!!" by HGOVC::ANNAHUI () Wed Aug 30 1989 10:13

    Hi there,

    I am a Oracle problem from my client. This is a bank and use Oracle
    to develope a brokerage system.

    The DBMS version they are using is 5.1.22. The problem occur when they
    try to run it on VMS v5.2. Without relinking or rebuilding DBMS, they
    could not initialize the system. So they relinked it and got the
    following error message:

    %link-e-confmem, Conflicting virtual memory requirement.

    The client called up Oracle and the answer he got was V5.2 was too new that
    they haven't test it.

    Does anyone encounter similar problem? Any suggestion or solution?

    Best regards,

    Anna

    It is Oracle's problem to resolve problems encountered running their
    software on the operating systems for which they sell it.

    I can see you want to help this customer, but our time is Digital's
    money and should not be spent subsidizing competitors.

416.26.0.26 Seem to Be OKMAIL::DUNCANGGerry Duncan @KCOThu Sep 07 1989 06:578
    My customer upgraded one of his systems to VMS 5.2. His Oracle
    6.0.26 release came up just fine... no link required. Sounds like
    this may be something specific to Oracle 5.1.22.

    We're getting ready to run a benchmark next week using 5.2 and
    Oracle 6.0.26 so we'll be able to give Oracle a good test.

    Yes but I probably won't get a chance to do this until mid October
    when I return from vacation, training, and the boat ride.
