I am trying to identify if there are any referenceable or unreferenceable customers out there who are programming applications on MACintosh PCs and accessing Rdb on a VAX. My customer is 50% leaning towards an implementation of this sort and is looking for some acknowledgement that they are doing the right thing to push them over the top. (Sybase and Oracle are deep within the account and are poised to swing the customer the other way because they claim to have PC solutions already in place.) The customer ideally would like a reference site that is using 4th Dimension on the MAC for application development with calls to Rdb on the VAX. The application requires read/write capability from/to Rdb. Please let me know if there is anyone out there doing something like this or similar. References with SequeLink, CL1, or others are welcome as well. Thank you, Rick This note is also posted in MAC_VAX_CONNECTION and Rdb_VMS_Competition.

401.1 | Maybe SQl/Services could fit ??? | SNO78C::BELAKHOV | Oh, my god, it's full of stars. | Tue Aug 15 1989 02:25 | 14 |
re .0 Digital has a product called SQL/Services which allows access to Rdb/VMS databases from MS-DOS and ULTRIX. The notes file is on NOVA::SQL_SERVICES. Although the product currently only supports MS-DOS and ULTRIX, I think it would be worth your while to contact Deb Wasserman who is the product manager, she may just have some good news for you. As you know product futures discussions are not allowed in public notes files (:-). Good Luck, Michael |
