328.0. "The Gospel according to Digital NEWS" by CSOA1::CARLOTTI (I have an Erie feeling about this...) Thu Apr 06 1989 16:13
In the April 3, 1989 edition of Digital NEWS (are we allowed to read this
magazine?), there's an article in the Buyers Guide section (pp. 27-33)
entitled: "What Managers Should Look for When Selecting a DBMS" by James
Brunet.
On the first page of the article is a table listing thirty one (31) vendors
who have relational database products. A large table of features is spread
across pages 29 & 32.
OOPS! They forgot Rdb...so sorry. Must have slipped their mind.
They did mention us in the last paragraph of the article:
"Like Digital's DECnet network management tools, Digital's Rdb
product contains an ACMS (Application Control and Management
System), which, according to Digital's (Vickie) Farrell, provides
the ability to tune the database engine's performance to the
specific conditions under which it is run. The ACMS also provides
the audit capabilities, the ability to implement priorities on
transactions and database security at the applications level, she
said."
Sometimes reading these trade rags is PAINFUL!
