288.0. "Ingress Data Overload ?" by DENVER::RUOFF () Sat Jan 14 1989 01:09
Can anyone suggest how to intercept Ingress or Rdb query results
prior to passing them via VMS Services for MS-DOS to a PC ?
I have a customer who is currently using Ingress (boo, hiss) in conjunction
with VMS Services for MS-DOS. Occasionally they create a query
with more results than a PC can handle, and it crashes the PC.
I would guess that this could also happen with Rdb under the same
circumstances. Ingress has thrown up their hands on this one.
My thought is that if we could solve it, say with some sort of trap,
and a process that then only releases a portion of the result to
the PC, we could make significant in-roads to becoming the RDBMS
vendor of choice, unseating Ingress (perhaps let them keep the tools).
Any thoughts on this ?
