My understanding with Rdb/VMS, is that if there is a disk failure, with no shadow disk, you are obliged to restore the whole database. You cannot for example restore by "area". Does anyone know of any "workarounds" that ensure data consistency, and do not require say 30+ Gbyte database to be restored in its entirety??

Seems like this question should be asked in the BANZAI::RDB conference, not in a conference on competition. | |||||

Ok I have placed this question in BANZAI::Rdb. I was tho thinking in terms of a competitive "knock off" that a competitor could use, hopefully the issue will be resolved before it actually becomes an issue. |
