189.0. "DEC Sales sells ORACLE for Credit!" by KYOA::FARESE (If a database is involved...) Fri Sep 02 1988 23:45

Latest news... Our sales force gets credit for selling ORACLE,
both on the ULTRIX (DDS) and VMS (!!) platforms.

How can we get them to sell Rdb, if ORACLE is an easier sell and
    they get credit too!!??

Sales force means whole Corp. or just some region/area ?

Can someone out there can provide some details on the T/C agreement
    betwwen DEC and Oracle.

I want the details!!! I am not aware of ANY activities that qualify
salespeople for sales credit of non-Digital databases on the VMS
    operating system.

Please let me know whether this is real or more Oracle misinformation.

189.3Oracle Agreements NUTMEG::SILVERBERGTue Sep 06 1988 15:2510
The August 22, 1988 issues of Sales Update outlines both of the
Distribution agreements Digital has with ORACLE for the Database
and associated product sets. One agreement is for the VAX based
versions of their software, and the other is for their DOS based
versions. These are Software Product DDS type agreements, not
CMP type agreements, and are for the listed Database associated
products, not their upcoming Application products.

The Sales Update article specifically says "for the ULTRIX
environment", not VAX/VMS. This is not news; we knew about this
    a couple of months ago.
