The price book includes a VAX Rdb/VMS Remote Application Access licensing option, but this is not mentioned in the SPD (in VTX). Does this licensing option still exist? I hope so, since last year we estimated some costs for this customer based on it. Thanks. -- Pam McMicki

No, this option no longer exists. Even if it did, your cost estimates would be invalid because all of the prices were changed! Existing Remote licensees with support contracts are being given run-time only licenses (which are a superset of the remote license). | |||||

This a government contract site and it is necessary to make estimates far in advance of actual purchase. The cost estimates would have differed from the actual cost but not by a significant amount. The customer has about 16 microVAXs which will feed data to a central database. We convinced them to migrate from Ingres to RDB and one of the factors was cost. We now have the happy job of informing them that the real cost will be more than triple our original est --- Pam McMickin |
