Greetings again...
Could someone tell me what PACBase is? I believe it is a COBOL
Generator product for creating code to run under MVS. I also heard
it mentioned in the context of DB2, & SNA. Is it of use to us? As
you can probably gather I am grasping at straws.
Thanks
Janet

PACBase is a CASE tool that generates code. As far as I know, it
is the only such "complete" CASE tool on the market. I think it
only runs on IBM systems. It generates COBOL code from the
descriptions, rules, and diagrams that are put into its dictionary.
Applications are portable/adaptable. An application written for
IBM-MVS-CICS with DB2 can be recompiled into an application supporting
Honeywell GCOS8 with IDS-2.
Pacbase runs on IBM DOS or MVS with CICS or IMS/DC TP monitor,
Sperry with OS/1100 and TIP TP monitor,
Honeywell DPS 7,8,88,90
GCOS/GCOS8 with TDS or DM-IV/TP TP monitor.
Closest product for the VAX would probably be Corvision/Application
Factory from Cortex.
Pacbase appears to be pretty good stuff. Made by CGI Systems,
