We are trying to win a large CIM project at a Northwest manufacturer.
At stake is a lot of future hardware & software sales. The database is
the deciding factor, and the two frontrunners are currently Rdb and
Ingres. The customer's #1 hot button is distributed database. (No, I'm
not yet sure what their definition of distributed database is-haven't
met them in person yet). However, they claim that Ingres has the best
solution here.
I need to find out just what degree of "distributed" database support
is in Ingres' current product. I can then make the comparison to Rdb's
capabilities.
The second hot button is interoperability with DB2. We are in the
process of getting them a nondisclosure on our directions. Does
Ingres have any capabilities in this area?
Thanks for any help or pointers...

RTI has announced DB2 gateway products, but as of yet that is as
far as it has gotten. They do have an IMS gateway already released
so it reasonable to assume that they are actually coding the DB2
product. They don't yet have the solution.
