| I think you are talking about ASI/Inquiry. It's used by the NSA
to monitor worldwide intelligence activity.
ASI/Inquiry is an Englsih-like query tool that runs on IMS/DL/1,
ims DB/DC, Fastpath, CICS, VSAM and (I think) DB2. The product allows
transparent access to those multiple database types. It has good
security measures, supports extensive lexicon development, can do
two simultaneous queries via the ISPF split screen, and has an
interface to cretain online data dictionaries (DATAMANAGER, UCC
10).
Since this product's claim to fame is easy access to IBM production
databases, I don't think it will be on VAX in the short-term.
The closest thing we have available is INTELLECT. Admittedly,
it runs only on Rdb. But it's query capabilities and English interface
should be quite similar to ASI/Inquiry.
If you want to compare ASI/Inquiry to anything similar. It's
sort of like a hybrid of FOCUS join capabilities with Intellect's
English query language.
Hope this helps.
