    Has anyone had any experience with the product PASSPORT form FORTEX?
    
    It is a replacement for SQL*Forms, the Oracle form builder and
    application processor. It seems to offer significant performance
    improvements over SQL*Forms. It also is not limited to use with
    the ORACLE kernal; an interface to Rdb via VAX SQL is due soon.
    
    Any information substantiating or refuting the product's claims,
    or any positive/negative responses to the product would be greatly
    appreciated.

	Try contacting Stephen Catalano, software specialist in the Eastern Massachusetts Software District. When I met Steve last Spring, he was on a project at Hanscomb AFB. The government had selected and were using the FORTEX product to develop with ORACLE. Ken McMullen in Toronto may be able to help you as well. There is a bank there trying out the product. 	We just had the Fortex folks in for a demo. The product looks reasonable and has some rather nice features (push/pop windows for forms and menus). We have requested reference sites so that we can look into productivity and performance claims. One extremely useful aspect of the product is that it generates standard C code. This permits the creation of systems that go beyond menu- and forms-driven database updating, since the creation of calls to external subroutines requires nothing fancier than the inclusion of the appropriate declarations and calls in the generated code. 	In the base note it says that Passport is a replacement for SQLforms. Does this mean that Oracle themselves are dropping sqlforms in favour of PASSPORT or is this product a competitor ? Thanks in advance for any information. - Joe
