41.0. "RTI contracts out consulting" by DARTS::BICKFORD () Mon Nov 09 1987 16:53
An article in the Nov 2 Computer Systems News mentions that RTI
will announce an agreement with Computer Task Group, Buffalo, NY,
to provide applications consulting for RTI's Ingres in a variety
of vertical markets.
This proves RTI's strategy of using 3rd party consultants in lieu
of developing a full-service in-house consulting group. They also
have a similar agreement with Westinghouse Electric Corp, Pittsburgh.
This strategy is because they don't have enough resources in-house
to provide total consulting.
CTG will target approx. 100 consultants in the next 4-5 months to
do applications consulting for manufacturing, telecommunications,
and financial services while RTI will continue to provide consulting
expertise on database performance and connectivity issues. RTI
will do DB tools consulting, and CTG will do applications consulting.

41.1 | CTG has lots of experience at this. | MTBLUE::BOURNE_DICK | Dick Bourne | Thu Nov 19 1987 15:40 | 7 |
| Computer Task Group has provided this kind of application consulting
for some time in conjunction with a number of products. Believe
it was Cullinet with whom they had first major database arrangement.
From experience in a former life can speak to fact that CTG is a
class outfit and a major player in this space; they will do very
well with this venture, I predict.
