    Does anyone know whether INGRES conforms to DSRI (i.e.
    can I get to an INGRES database using standard CALLs)?

	You ask 2 questions at the same time. 1) INGRES certainly doesn't conform to DSRI. 2) The 'Guide to Ingres' I have doesn't mention CALLS of any other sort explicitly, but I assume what the precompilers can do you can do by hand as well. Hope that helps, Gerold
