What is this with Adabas building a DSRI interface and the talk about a CMP agreement between Digital and Software AG, the builders of Adabas and Natural (Digital Review front page - Sep 28, 1987)? What will Digital buy with a CMP with Software AG? Is this even a reality or just speculation by DR? Digital already has an agreement with Ingres for use under Ultrix. What does all this mean to Digital's support for its own products? Finally, is this note appropriate for this file or do we need a new RelationalDB_CMP notesfile? Imran

The CMP agreement, as I understand it, would only cover Natural 2, not Adabas. It would be nice in situations where customers have Adabas and Rdb (it would give them common access through one language interface), or where customers like Natural, but don't want the complexity and expense of Adabas. It will amount to just another 4GL interface with Rdb. ---- Michael Booth

Adabas has been available for VMS for over a year now. See Adabas notes file OBIWAN::ADABAS. ---- Michael Booth

ADABAS is running under RSX-11 and since early 1984 on VMS in native mode. ADABAS is not yet running on ULTRIX; and as far I know, there are currently no plans form Software AG. to implement it on ULTRIX. Rdiger
