I am a resident at a government site where one customer
currently owns an IDM-500 and VAX-11/785. It took him
almost a year to get the VAX and the IDM going. Another
customer has an aging DEC-10 system and many VAXes running
DTR and other applications. This customer, in particular,
is not all al impressed by the IDM and is SINCERELY interested
in knowing if DEC IS or IS NOT working on or even thinking
about developing/marketing a database machine. He has heard
rumors of it at futures briefings and has bluntly stated,
that if DEC is planning on or is working on one, he would
highly consider purchasing one.
Can you give me any hint as to whether we are working on
one. I too have heard differing opinions for some time.
Also, please inform me if the issue is too sensitive.

| Since you are asking about futures, you should elevate your
request in the same manner you would for a non-disclosure.
That way AREA management can decide:
a. is there a future product
b. is it worth asking for a non-disclosure
They are the ones with the list of internal projects.
