434.0. "Problem with notes that have multiple paragraphs lProblem with multiple paragraph notes" by LJOHUB::CARDINALE () Wed Jun 12 1991 16:03

I am building a book using the CUP.ONLINE doc type on a system that has VMS
Version 5.3-2 and VAX DOCUMENT Version 1.2B installed on it. Some notes that
contain more than one paragraph suffer from the following problem: After the
first paragraph, the left margin becomes much wider so that the following
paragraphs are indented. For example:

                                   NOTE
       --------------------------------------------------------------
        xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
        xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
        xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

                  xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
                  xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
                  xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
       --------------------------------------------------------------

Is there any fix or work-around for this?

This problem does not occur with online.reference or online.handbook,
so I think it must be specific to the CUP family of doctypes. Suggest
you post a note in 4TRACK::CUP_DOCTYPES.

The note format for V2.0 was completely redone and, presumably, fixes
all such problems (without introducing others...:-)

This is a joke, right? (The :- is an unknown symbol to me. Unless of course
the balancing ) from "(without" is omitted, in which case you proved it
again: where work is done, bugs are introduced.)

This problem was fixed in the CUP.ONLINE doctype for the Writer's
Tool Kit V2.0.
