I am trying to build an online book (builds ok in hardcopy) with a
special design. Without going into the details of the different
design, has anyone seen the following error messages?

That error happens numerous times in each of the files that makes up the
document. I don't define or use that control sequence.
The following errors appear several times per page in the table of
contents. I don't do anything special to the TOC.

| What TeX is telling you is what you've already stated. You haven't
defined those control sequences. The control sequence
\onlineadjustvoffset is used to adjust the space at the top of the
'page' to correct online paragraph spacing. The \titlepageTOCtext
control sequence has been used to provide the string "Title Page" to
the table of contents. You might try the following:

But I don't explicitly use \onlineadjustvoffset. I think it should be
defined by the software that uses it (unless it's documented somewhere
that I should define it?). Thanks for the work-around, but I'd like to
get a real fix if possible.

| The released version of the online doctype's .DESIGN file does define
it. Your .DESIGN file needs to define it also. What I gave you wasn't
a workaround, it was the real definition of both control sequences.
You've just happened to find a couple of the 'gotchas' that get you
when you modify a doctype.
