Could you tell me exactly what to add, where, and how. 

I am sorry, but I don't really have much support when it comes to
including figures.

    I'm afraid I can't be much more help.  I'll check around to see if I
    can find someone with more expertise in that area.  Or maybe one of our
    other readers could clear it up for you?

    I haven't done this, Carrie (I've always used UTOX before, when I've
    done screen captures to convert to .FSE), but I've had a play with 
    the new flavour of RAGS and used the `Export' option (the latest 
    RAGS I've got installed is T3.3, tho' a T3.4 is around, and details in 
    that may have changed)) and it seemsquite straightforward.
    
    Get the postscript file up on your screen, using the PSViewer or
    whatever it's called this week (I know nothing about this step).
    
    From RAGS, pull down the Window menu. One of the options is `Digitize'.
    Select this, and the `Hints' window says `Set up screen as desired.
    When ready, press the <DO> key. (MB3 = CANCEL)'. Do what it says:
    you can size and move windows or shrink them to icons; if you want to
    bail out, click (once) on MB3 (that's the rightmost mouse button,
    if you're using the default setup).
    
    When you press <DO>, nothing dramatic happens. Again, the `Hints'
    window tells you what to do. You select the bit of screen you want
    to capture by clicking MB1 at the top left-hand corner of the
    area you want; then (with MB1 held down) drag the pointer across the
    area (RAGS draws a rectangle round the area you're selecting).  When
    you've done, release MB1 and the rectangle stays where it is.
    
    Then move your pointer back into the drawing window.  As soon as it
    gets there, you will see a rectangle with two crosslines attached
    to it - this represents the area you have selected. Position this
    where you want it in the drawing window, and click MB1 again to
    drop the image where you want it.
    
    Then pull down the `File' menu, and select `Export'. In the
    Export window, click on FSE, SDML file, and Figure (if that's
    the sort of figure you want. At the top of the window, give
    an appropriate filename. (I don't have much of an idea what the
    rest of the Export window does, but what I've said at least works.)
    At the bottom left-hand corner of the Export window, there is a
    button marked GENERATE FILE, Click on it (MB1 again). The `Hints'
    window tells you when RAGS has generated the necessary files; then
    you can click on DISMISS. Finally, get out of RAGS (`File' => `Exit').
    
    The files generated are one with the extn. .FSE and one  with the extn.
    .SDML. You can call the .SDML one as it is into your .SDML source file
    - it has all the necessary <figure> commands. Make sure the .FSE one
    is in the same directory as your source .SDML file before you do your
    online build.
    
    I hope this lot helps. If something goes wrong, try your system manager
    - this works for me as I've described it.

    	What you can do is add the scale command (Ex:  1.3 1.3 scale)
    to the top of the .PS file in question, and add "showpage" (without
    the quotes) at the bottom of the file.  At that point you should
    be able to display it with the PostScript previewer.
    
    	(If you don't have the PostScript previewer, I'm not sure where
    you can get it, although I believe there are pointer(s) to it in
    either this conference or the BOOKREADER conference.)
    
    	Once the graphic is displayed on your screen, you can capture
    it using the "Capture Portion of Screen" choice on the "Print Screen"
    menu in the Session Manager.  Before doing this, you should use
    Customize Print Screen to set the output format, output name, etc.
    I believe if you trap it in either Sixel or DDIF format it will
    be acceptable to UTOX.
    
    	Once you have captured the screen, you can go into UTOX, bring
    the graphic in, manipulate it if you wish, and save it in FSE format,
    which is usable in Bookreader books.

You can use UTOX to capture the screen image and bypass the session manager
step altogether.

    He's right - I was thinking back to when UTOX didn't have screen
    capture (or at least I hadn't noticed it...)
