357.0. "\special problems" by MARVIN::KNOWLES (intentionally Rive Gauche) Mon Jul 09 1990 11:36

Working with the latest tools (1.2B, 25 Jan) I'm getting an odd error.
Bookwriter doesn't like some .fse files that it has already succesfully
used in another book (for which I did the graphics on DECwrite and
converted to .fse with UTOX). It _does_ like some other .fse files
that I've just produced with RAGS; but it _does_n't like another
one I did with RAGS - same version, T2.3 - a couple of weeks ago.

I'd suspect the length of a filename, but the filenames are all exactly
the same (same directory, just different numbers in the name) as two that
have been included successfully in yet another book. I didn't keep a
log of that build, but there's no reason (I can see) why I couldn't,
    if that'd be useful.

    Any ideas?

Here are relevant bits of the .lis file. I've put a few comments in,
cued by . Thanks for any help you can give.

    Bob

357.1Check file protections?MJFITZ::FITZELLgot those multi authoring cross platform bluesMon Jul 09 1990 12:399
The "dvc$_figfilopn" error only occurs if an error is returned when
opening a file. In these instances the "dna=keyword" option (this is
the option that has the bug that limits filename length) is not used
so filename length is not at fault. I'd check the protections on the
file if that's not it send me a pointer to a couple of the files with a
note on how they were created.

Oops. I haven't checked yet, but I suspect the FIGFILOPN error was my
fault. The clue is that some files worked in another book (where they had
different names). I changed the names for the new book, but left
    a couple of characters in.

Thanks for the offer of help, Mike; but I think the problem's more
with my head than with the device converter.
