Hi, I'm currently recoding a translated version of the DECwrite User's Guide V1.0 to display it in Bookreader. I've come across a problem in the chapter that deals with the Equation Editor. Some of the <MATH_CHAR> symbols do not display properly, or do not display at all. Is this a problem with DOCUMENT, or is it a problem with the screen? The table below lists those symbols that I'm having trouble with. I'm using V1.2B, btw. Is there a fix for this, or is it something I'll have to live with? --- Arne ********************************************************************************* <include>(font_char.gdx) 347.1 | known problem | OLD::UTT | Mary Utt | Mon Jun 11 1990 09:24 | 19 |
This is a known problem, and known to be particularly acute for the DECwrite User's Guide. The problem is neither VAX DOCUMENT nor the Bookreader, but the DECwindows math fonts that are available to the Bookreader. For V1.0 and V2.0 of the Bookreader, we had only a set of incomplete (non-QA'd) math fonts available. Joe Kraetsch and I submitted a requirement for DECwindows V3.0 that the 'good' math fonts be shipped with DECwindows so they would be available to all DECwindows applications. This requirement was met so you should not have these problems for Bookreader V3.0. The reason that the DECwrite equation editor can display characters that the Bookreader cannot is that DECwrite ships the 'good' fonts itself. Wish I had better news for you, but hope this helps.
