339.0. "Date on copyright page" by JUMBLY::MERCHANT () Wed May 23 1990 07:10
Can I ask for thoughts on these suggestions, which have come up as we
are working on two products for CD? If we post dates on our books, I
like to make them as meaningful to the reader as possible. (I'm an
    editor!)
o	The Date at the top of the copyright page should be the date the
book first goes onto a CD. Reasons - it's the nearest equivalent
to the "first printing" common in hardcopy publishing; and it's
not desirable to make the CD date match the hard copy date (they may
be months apart, they may be revised at different frequencies).
o	The Date at the top of the copyright page should be expanded to
read something like: "First distributed in Bookreader version,
July 1990". Reason - to make it clear that the date refers only to
	Bookreader.
Also, might an <online_copyright_date> tag be needed?

    Also posted in BOOKREADER.

| | Mike,

Thanks for the suggestions. We'll put them on the wishlist. Any other
suggestions? Anyone else think <online_copyright_date> would be useful?

    Thanks,

    Mary
