333.0. "Element hangs bookreader compile." by CURRNT::ALFORD (Ice a speciality) Wed May 09 1990 11:02

This one has defeated me. Can anyone make any suggestions as to
    the cause.

I have this book, made up of 1 profile and 23 elements.

There is one element (E1) that despite endless checking, hangs the
process during the second phase of the TAG Translation.

The TEX file for that element (E1) is written and the process moves
onto the next element (E2), creates the .INT_TEX file for that element
(E2) and then the process hangs, using up *lots* of CPU time.

If the element (E1) is removed from the profile, the whole book
builds correctly with the expected reference warnings. If the element
(E1) is inserted anywhere in the profile, the process hangs on the
    element following element (E1).

The element (E1) compiles with no errors if compiled as a single
file, nor do any errors occur using the /profile= switch.

I have even tried processing the book with full privilege enabled
to override quotas etc. with the same result as described above.

There appears to be sufficient memory available and plenty of diskspace.

333.1Need pointers....CLOSET::GRANTI've saved $2469.00 since I quit smoking.Wed May 09 1990 11:418
If you'll give me pointers to the files, I'll look into your problem.
Actually, just the offending element and one other should be enough.

It would also help to know what software versions you're using.

    Thanks,
    	Wayne

This one had the same cause as Topic 285, only with a combination
of the <FOOTNOTE> tag and the <LIST> tag.

    A <P> solved it :-)
