| Looks like a problem that's been discussed in another note, to do with
symbols not showing up properly. In that case, the problem was with
the fonts; in some future release of Bookreader it would go away.
.0 observation seems to be related to one that I made when looking
on line at a Style Guide. The text spelt out the differences between
a hyphen and an en-dash, and said how to code them with DOCUMENT.
Unfortunately the examples of output showed the two as being identical
(or maybe it was just my eyes).

| Betsy,
Would you send me the .SDML file for the title page that is losing
its hyphen?
The char set that DECwindows uses (ISO-Latin1) has *only* a hyphen,
no en- or em-dashes, so dashes are telescoped down into hyphens.
That is, coding -, --, or --- all result in hyphens (-) online.
(The dashes are considered publishing characters and eventually
publishing fonts will be supported in DECwindows and then we
can have dashes back.)
I realize that only explains the hyphens that *are* displayed.
I know of no reason why any should *not* be displayed, so send
your file and I'll take a look.
Thanks,
Mary
