Howdy, When I create an online version of my document, the online bookbuilder ignores the <ORDER_NUMBER> tag (this tag displays the document part number on the title page) Is this supposed to happen? Rgds, Mike B

Yes, this is supposed to happen: the online books cannot be ordered separately; the order number is only for ordering hardcopy books. This is documented in the release notes for VAX DOCUMENT V1.2B (or in "Coding Documentation Source Files for the DECwindows Bookreader" if you are running an earlier version of VAX DOCUMENT). I mentioned to Mike Cicalese that it would be nice if, instead of ignoring the part number, the Bookreader said something like "This online book is available in printed form, order number nn-nnnnn-nn." We could include a disclaimer that the printed book may not contain some updated information. That way, readers would know how to get the book without trying to figure out what the part number is from the name of the DECW$BOOK, which is hard enough to find in the first place. (You need to show logical DECW$BOOK, then look through the bookshelf files...) |
