Hello, I have a book with a lot of figures that were created with UTOX. In the online version, many pop-up figures are too big for the standard figure frame. To be able to view them completely, I have to expand the frame. I don't want to do that all the time. Does anyone know how I can set the width of pop-up figures in online documentation? (Maybe this is determined by the VAX DOCUMENT doctype?) Best regards, Martin

I think we need a little more information here. What version of everything are you using? (Utox, Document, etc.) How have you got the figures coded? Figure widths are determined by the data that is stored in the header of the figure file. The only limits are the size of the screen they're displayed on anything wider and you have to use the scroll bars. MIke

Also, are these formal or informal figures? Mary

Sorry that I forgot to include the version information! I'm using UTOX V3.0-1 (5-OCT-89), VAX DOCUMENT V1.1, bookbuilding tools 20-MAR-89 baselevel. The figures in the SDML files are coded as follows: <FIGURE>(Het Noordamerikaanse toetsenbord\north_am_fig) <FIGURE_FILE>(bookreader\zk-5337.decw$bookfig\104.8) <ENDFIGURE> In this example, "104.8" only sets the vertical spacing of the figure, doesn't it? The figure is very large, and if I want to view it completely, I have to expand its pop-up window significantly (in horizontal direction). I don't want that. I want it to fit between the borders of the pop-up window. Does the figure have to be rescaled, and if so, how do I know what horizontal space I should use? What is the width (horizontal space) of the standard (initial) pop-up window? Martin

Martin, I have just added note 297 to this notes conference which provides general information about the sizing of Bookreader windows. I hope that's helpful. I am not sure if the figure could be successfully rescaled: you should consult with the artist about that. Mary |
