269.0. "LMF tags cause TAG-W-ARGNOTNAM errors" by TOWNS::VALENTINE (Walter Valentine, Wash D.C. SWS) Sat Jan 27 1990 09:57
After recently installing DOC012 and DOCINT012 and getting successful
IVP results, and after restoring ONLINE_A012.SAV, I am trying to build
an online book for the first time. The LMF tags keep generating
TAG-W-ARGNOTNAM errors. I'm stumped. I am attaching the complete
.sdml file (all 24 lines) and the .lis file.

Any ideas?
T.R | Title | User | Personal Name | Date | Lines |
---|
269.1 | just say <lmf>(test_book) | VAXUUM::UTT | | Mon Jan 29 1990 07:35 | 6 |
| The <LMF> tag just takes the symbol name -- don't use <reference>
in that tag:
<LMF>(test_book)
Mary
|
269.2 | Too many <REFERENCE>s | AITG::CARRASCO | Perfection is not success | Mon Jan 29 1990 10:35 | 21 |
| Also, you need symbolic names in your <HEAD1>'s, not <REFERENCE>'s.
Recode:
<define_symbol>(first_section\Introduction)
<define_symbol>(second_section\Main)
...
<head1>(<reference>(first_section))
<p> This is a test.
<head1>(<reference>(second_section))
<p> The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dogs.
To be:
<head1>(Introduction \first_section)
<p> This is a test.
<head1>(Main \second_section)
<p> The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dogs.
You need only the <DEFINE_BOOK_NAME> tag, not the <DEFINE_SYMBOL> tags.
The <HEAD1> tag _does_ define its second argument to be a symbol.

269.3 | Can't find font files | TOWNS::VALENTINE | Walter Valentine, Wash D.C. SWS | Tue Jan 30 1990 15:56 | 67 |

I made the changes indicated in .1 and .2. Now I get 47 blocks worth
of error messages telling me that DECWHELV240.TFM and similar files
can't be found. I could copy these files from DOC$VOILA_FONTS:*.* to
DOC$PS_FONTS:*.* to make the errors go away, but it seems that there is
something fundamentally wrong, even though I carefully followed the
installation instructions in the first section of
WRITER_GUIDELINES.DECW$BOOK.
Here is my source, and the first few lines of the .LIS file with the
"file not found" errors.

| To build an online book, you need to use the BOOKREADER destination,
not the POSTSCRIPT destination.
