246.1 | Try <ONLINE_CHUNK> | IOSG::GEE | What can be, will be | Wed Jan 03 1990 04:47 | 23 |
| Hi,
This error usually occurs if you have a long example, or interactive
block.
If you have long examples, use the <ONLINE_CHUNK> tag. For example:
<CODE_EXAMPLE>
.
.
.
<ONLINE_CHUNK>
.
.
.
<ONLINE_CHUNK>
.
.
.
<ENDCODE_EXAMPLE>

246.2 | what version are you running? | VAXUUM::UTT | | Wed Jan 03 1990 07:42 | 8 |
| What version of the online tools and VAX DOCUMENT are you using? This
problem (which occurs in processing the _CONTENTS file) is a little
different from the usual tex-out-of-memory errors (for which .1 gives
good advice). This one occurred on the first online baselevel that ran
on DOCUMENT 1.2 last summer. I haven't seen it lately, so I think you
must be running an old baselevel and upgrading will cure these ills.

| Answer to .2:
%DOC-I-IDENT, VAX Document V1.2-A 2-JUN-1989 16:15:56.35
[ T a g T r a n s l a t i o n ]...
%TAG-I-TAG_IDENT, Tag Translator V1.2-004
%TAG-I-DEFSLOADD, End of Loading of Tag Definitions
%TAG-I-LCL_MSG01, Using online bookbuilding tools, 27-October-1989 baselevel
...
Also, I am not using any LMF tags, if this is of help. I thought it
was odd that the error occurs during text formatting of contents.
Earlier versions of this document processed fine before we upgraded to
1.2 of DOCUMENT.
By the way, the document processes fine for hard-copy output. The
table of contents is about 4 1/2 pages long in the hard-copy version.

246.4 | Fixed in later release | VAXUUM::UTT | | Wed Jan 03 1990 12:02 | 6 |
| .3: Yes, that is the version I thought you were probably running. If
you upgrade to the Oct 27 baselevel (or wait a little and upgrade for
V1.2B and the Writer's Toolkit release of VAX DOCUMENT), you should not
encounter this problem.

246.5 | Huh? | COOKIE::SANDERSON | Phasers on stun | Wed Jan 03 1990 12:15 | 8 |
| Doesn't this mean that I'm using the Oct 27 baselevel:
%TAG-I-LCL_MSG01, Using online bookbuilding tools, 27-October-1989 baselevel
I didn't understand your comment in .4 that I need to upgrade to the
Oct 27 baselevel, when apparently I'm already running it.

246.6 | send file... | VAXUUM::UTT | | Wed Jan 03 1990 12:30 | 7 |
| My apologies: I looked at the June 2 date by mistake. Yes, you are
running the most recent baselevel (17-Oct). Would you send me your
xxx_CONTENTS.TEX file?
Thanks,
Mary

246.7 | Installation not completed | COOKIE::MELTON | Standards and serendipity--the ideal combination | Fri Jan 05 1990 14:30 | 10 |
| Thanks, Mark and Mary, for your help.
It turned out that when the latest version of the online bookbuilding
tools were installed on our cluster, the DOC$DESIGNS.DAT file(s) hadn't
been updated as required. They still referred to TEX$O_REFERENCE.DESIGN
instead of TEX$V2REFERENCE.DESIGN. With this fix, the "tex out of memory"
problem went away.
Thanks!
Jim (and Dan by implication)
