I am having a problem in building a book for Bookreader. VAX DOCUMENT keeps adding too much white space! Here is an example of what is happening: I process the profile and VAX DOCUMENT tells me the book built successfully. I put the book into Bookreader and look at it. I start with the title page, but all I see is the copyright line at the top of the page. I have to scroll down about a dozen clicks to see the book title, another dozen clicks to see the next line of information, and so on. This is also happening in the Preface and chapters (i.e., having to scroll through about a dozen clicks of white space to get to the next section). Any ideas on what is causing this to happen? The first time I built this book for Bookreader, this happened. Only once was the book built **without** the extra white space. After that one time, it continued being built with the extrac white space. I'd appreciate any help you can offer. Thanks! <<Linda Trapasso

241.1 | Are you using the <DEC_SECURITY> tag? | BOOKIE::MURRAY | Chuck Murray | Tue Dec 12 1989 18:39 | 9 |
Are you using the <DEC_SECURITY> tag? (This tag allows you to have a "security" level appear on each page. For instance, <dec_security>(internal) causes "Digital Internal Use Only" to appear on each page.) Using <DEC_SECURITY> causes weirdly excessive white space to appear when you build a book for online. I include the tag in the profiles of my books for hard copy builds, and I comment the tag out for online builds.
241.2 | That's it! | PENSIV::TRAPASSO | Wed Dec 13 1989 09:54 | 8
Yes! That must be it! I had commented out <dec_security> and then put it back in for a hardcopy book build. I never would have figured this one out. Thanks! <<Linda
241.3 | <dec_security> for online | CLOSET::UTT | Wed Dec 13 1989 15:43 | 5
Yes, <dec_security> (as currently implemented for hardcopy) would do as you describe. DOCUMENT V1.2B will support <dec_security> for online so you should no longer have this problem. Mary |
