237.1 | Why 4 different documents? | CRAYON::GENT | There is no poetry without madness -- Democritus | Fri Dec 08 1989 08:31 | 7 |
| This might seem like a stupid question (or blatantly obvious),
but could someone please explain the difference between these books?
Why do we need 4 different sets of guidelines?
Thank you,

Anyone care to answer this one? Is is just because the documents began
as independent efforts?

RE: .2
Yes, these documents came about independently. There wasn't much
available for some time, so different groups came up with their own things.
Anything written about the Bookreader is likely to be out of date pretty
quickly; my document doesn't include anything about LMF tags, for instance.
If I decided to update the document and include LMF tags, the LMF tags
themselves could go away...you see how it is...
The most up-to-date guide is included in the Writer's Toolkit Internal Notes.
My document (CREATING_OLD) deals with the process for someone who is doing all
the work alone. This is not the procedure recommended for books that
use production services. It might be useful for someone who is putting an
internal document online, or someone who just wants to understand the whole
process better.

237.4 | Document on online error messages | VIA::EPPES | I'm not making this up, you know | Mon Jun 18 1990 15:47 | 10 |
| I've put together a small document listing DOCUMENT error messages you might see
during an online bookbuild, and what you might try to get rid of them. This
document is at:
BOOKIE::USER2:[EPPES.PUBLIC]ONLINE_BUILD_MESSAGES.PS
" ONLINE_BUILD_MESSAGES.DECW$BOOK*
I hope you find this helpful.

237.5 | File location update | HUMOR::EPPES | I'm not making this up, you know | Wed Apr 24 1991 16:48 | 8 |
| I've moved to a new system, so the files I mentioned in .4 are now available in:
PROSE::WRKD$:[EPPES.PUBLIC]ONLINE_BUILD_MESSAGES.PS
" ONLINE_BUILD_MESSAGES.DECW$BOOK*
They're probably a bit out-of-date, though...
