[Reposted after correcting error in the original]
The use of <reference> in an interactive example causes the text
to be put one line down (i.e., not on the same line). For example,
the SDML code is as follows:
<interactive>
<s>($ ) <u>(<reference>(pdd_verb))
<endinteractive>
What that should come out as (and does come out as for PostScript
output) is:
$ RDBEXPERT
However, the Bookreader displays the output as:
$
RDBEXPERT
This happened on BOOKIE -- VMS V5.3, DECwindows V2 (I think),
DOCUMENT V1.2-A.

Chuck-
What baselevel of the online tools are you using? I just tried your
example out with the Oct 27 baselevel (the latest) on VAXUUM and
the online output was fine -- $ RDBEXPERT all on the same line.

Hi, Mary. According to the log file, BOOKIE is using the 2-August-1989 base level of the online bookbuilding tools. Is the solution to upgrade to the 27-Oct version? If so, I'll send mail requesting that to BOOKIE::SYSTEM. | |||||

Yes, that's the solution. Note, however, that if you upgrade to
the Oct 27 baselevel, you can only build V2-format books. That is,
books that can be read only by the V2 Bookreader. (See note 64.10.)
