I have a book that processed correctly, and I can read it online at my site; however, I have sent it to three other sites -- at one site they can read it OK -- the other sites have problems: Namely, the graphics do not display. The window increases in size, and the caption displays, but the graphic does not. The graphics are very large, and have come from Autotrol DG to UIS to SIXEL to FSE binary. The system that has problems is a LAVC VMS v5.1-2 DECwindows version that came with v5.1 kit Bookbuilding tools latest version (came with VMS 5.1 kit) Online tools are the latest (Aug 4 Release for VMS5.0 and higher) VAX DOCUMENT v1.2 (internal kit also), but we also had VAX DOCUMENT v1.1 Where do I go from here? This is a very large project, and I need assistance urgently! The book is in CYCLPS::DEMON9:[I18N.CARRIG]TESTBINPROF.DECW$BOOK Thanks in advance.

This seems more like a Bookreader problem you should post this in the Bookreader notesfile (BULOVA::BOOKREADER). Mike
201.2 | A possible solution | DECWET::KOSAK | You get what you think about | Fri Sep 29 1989 12:44 | 11 |
One thing you might try as a workaround is to process you .DG file through PSLOUT and get a PostScript file. Find a DECwindows workstation and display the PostScript file using the PostScript previewer. Then, capture the workstation screen with UTOX, crop the image you're after, and save it as an FSE binary file. You can then include that in your Bookreader output. If this sounds like something you'd like to try, and you have any questions, send mail (DECWET::KOSAK) or give me a call (206) 865-8773. -- Craig
201.3 | fixed in 5.3 | STAR::KRAETSCH | NeXt Window Please | Fri Sep 29 1989 15:24 | 6 |
You didn't specify, but I suspect the system that won't display the graphics is a GPX. The 5.1 GPX server did not display images that were wider than the screen. This is fixed in 5.3--it works on my system. It should display on the black and white server. joe
201.4 | Nope, not just on GPX | SUCCES::BURTON | Tue Oct 03 1989 10:46 | 20
I'm working with Jim Carrig on this project so here's where we stand. RE.2 That's where we started out on this project. Problem with screen capture is the figures we use are too big for a screen capture. To overcome this we attempted to scale down art with PSLOUT but we found that the resolution was much to be desired and text turned to muck. Right now we can capture screen on images scaled to %120 from .DG to .PS. This is too big. Thus the procedure described in .1 RE.3 We do have GPX's but the problem occured originally with monochrome. We've had no problems with other types of online art. Any ideas? Rob Burton
201.5 | server limitations? | STAR::KRAETSCH | NeXt Window Please | Tue Oct 03 1989 15:51 | 4 |
I can only guess that it was a V1 server limitation--even on the monochrome. I was able to display your figures on V5.3 on both GPX and monochrome. joe |
