I tried building a book with online.reference and failed because it contained <syntax_keyword> tags and it had <line> tags within a syntax section. I was able to build this same book using online.handbook. Are you planning to remove these restrictions from online.reference? Or should I plan to continue to use online.handbook? claudia

Yes, it is quite likely that the syntax tags will be recognized in the reference doctype in the future. Peter LaQuerre's doctype task force is looking into standardizing doctypes and my plan is to follow their lead. It's impractical to recreate all the hardcopy manual doctypes online and their work should simplify things. My preference would be for *one* online doctype for manuals that supported all those tags.
