154.0. "Can the docs be on disk but not sw?" by LEZAH::KHARTSHORN () Wed Jun 21 1989 17:52

Can a docset be put onto CDROM if the software is released but not YET

But...let me add a little bit of clarification to Greg's hearty "Yes."

Documentation and software are elligible for inclusion on the
consolidated CD offerings based on a few common criteria. First, the
software product must be LMF compliant (or have a compliance plan, as
in the case of server products). Second, the software product must be
SHIPPING from the SSB. And third, the product must not be planned for
    retirement.

Once all those criteria are met (which apply for both the software and
documentation sets) then there are the criteria specific to online
documentation; namely, the exception policy that outlines requirements
for complete and current documentation sets.

So, yes, online documentation can be published without it's
corresponding software/hardware product appearing on CONDIST, but all
of the above conditions must still be met.

If you have questions about specific products, please let me know.
We're always finding unique situations that stretch our criteria, and
that's what new technology is all about!

    Cheers,
    Marian
