149.0. "Invalid book version error" by TECUN::BRADFORD (De Guatemala a guatepeor) Thu Jun 08 1989 13:02

I built a book successfully (no errors in log or list file), but get the error
"error opening CHARLT_PRO ... invalid book version". After poring through this
conference, I gather that this means I have incompatible software versions, but
cannot identify them. Can you help?

I'm using the bookbuilding tools bundled with Document Version 1.1 (the real SDC
version) and have not installed any baselevels separately. I built the book in
my local directory, letting the software create my local .DECW$BOOKSHELF file.
To invoke the bookreader, I defined DECW$BOOK to my local directory and defined
DECW$BOOKSHELF to be CHARLT_PRO.DECW$BOOKSHELF, the file created by the
bookbuild.

I deliberately built a very simple book the first time around, with no artwork,
so the following information does not include RAGS or UTOX info:

You need to install the March 20th baselevel per note 64.2.

Mike, we have installed the March 20 baselevel - DOCINT011, right?
Note 64.2 also confirms that this baselevel is bundled with VMS V5.1,
so we should be all set there. So I'm confused as to why we need to
    install this baselevel.

    >>%TAG-I-LCL_MSG01, Using online bookbuilding tools,16-Jan-89 baselevel
tells me that you're not using the March 20th baselevel.

The bookbuilding tools are not part of the internal kit (DOCINT011) you
have to install a seperate saveset thats in

VAXUUM::KITS_:[document.v11]cup$online_tools.sav (this is all in note
    64.2)

So first you need Document V11 then the V11 internal kit then the
    bookbuilding saveset.
