       INTRODUCING CDROM MIGRATION OPPORTUNITY FOR AD SUBSCRIBERS
    
    This is a timely opportunity for you to migrate over to Compact Disc 
    (CD) as the primary method of receiving Automatic Distribution (AD) for

    - Cost Savings.  If you are an average recipient of VMS Software 
     binaries on traditional mag tape, you are incurring material charges
     of approximately $1400 annually.  You can receive this same service 
     and improved frequency on CD for an estimated cost of $240 annually.
     In addition, if you migrate over to On-Line Documentation on CD, as  
     opposed to paper, you may incure cost savings of $1000 annually.
    
    -Two 4.7" discs at a cost of $47 every two months, contain VMS, and 
     over 200 of the most popular layered products.  Reduce filing 
     functions, and eliminate bulk media storage.  Take advantage of the 
     higher density, tamper resistance and random access capability of CD.
    
    -Payback period, including the cost of a CD Disc Reader, is 6-9  
     months for media recipients.  The payback period is less than one 
     month if you migrate to On-Line Documentation on CD, in place of 
     paper.

    
    
    PREREQUISITE SOFTWARE
    
    -The VMS AD SOFTWARE CONSOLIDATION disc is a specially packaged title 
     of software products labelled "Internal Use Only".  It contains 
     binaries only, for ALL of the products you are currently registered to 
     receive on alternative media.
    
    -For the VMS ONLINE DOCUMENTATION LIBRARY DISC, you will need to be 
     operating VMS 5.1 which includes the Decwindows Bookreader.
    
    PREREQUISITE HARDWARE
    
    -Use of the VMS AD SOFTWARE CONSOLIDATION of media on CD requires a
     VAX processor with either a QBUS or SCSI (VAXstation 3100) controller 
     and a CDROM Reader.  These can be configured standalone, clustered or  
     connected to the Ethernet.  
    
    -Use of the VMS ONLINE DOUMENTATION LIBRARY disc, requires a VAXstation
     processor (running the VMS DECwindows software) and a CDROM reader.
     Surveys indicate that one Vaxstation with online documentation can 
     support 10-20 users.  In addition, users indicate they can reduce 
     paper documentation down to one copy per site, if also utilizing   
     online documentation.  Specific RRD50 hardware requirements are  
     discussed in Section A.
