112.0. "Question about <delayed> tag" by CASEY::BURACK (Not Fade Away) Tue Apr 11 1989 15:01
Hi,
I noticed something about using the <delayed> tag with <emphasis>,
<quote>, <mcs>, <math>, and <math_char>. Is this only within the
context of the <gterm> tags, or any time these tags are nested within
another set of tags, for example <head1>(Minus Sign <math>(<minus>)).
Thanks,
Ruth-Ellen

112.1 | <delayed> tag used only within certain tags | STAR::BUTTLAR | Dick Buttlar | Tue Apr 11 1989 16:35 | 6 |

As far as I know, you only need to use <delayed> to enclose
tags nested within <gterm>, <msg>, and <msgs> tags.

| There are other instances where the <delayed> tag is necessary.
For example, if you use <define_symbol> to associate a string of
text with a symbol and that string of text has embedded tags
within it, you would need to use the <delayed> tag. The cases
where <delayed> is needed are those for which some action is
taken on string in pass one of the tag translator: <delayed>
tells the tag translator to 'delay' the expansion of the embedded
tags until they are written out to the TeX file in pass two.
