103.0. "problems with online.handbook" by AITG::WARNER (Ross Warner) Fri Mar 24 1989 15:58
I was glad to see that there was a new online doctype, ONLINE.HANDBOOK, that has
"codexampleintextfont" come out as monospace -- this is just what I need.
However, this doctype has some bugs that weren't present in ONLINE:
1. We had a section of reference pages that had informal tables -- ONLINE did a
good job keeping them within the Bookreader window. For some reason, however,
ONLINE.HANDBOOK makes many of the tables slightly too wide for the window. If
I want to use this doctype, I'll have to make 20 of these table <online_popup>.
2. In some cases headings are garbled in main window title bar -- they are
overwritten by something else and illegible.
3. In tables with <table_unit>s, each unit starts with a page number as follows:
678 Call-in Section
I guess this is a DOCUMENT message that is appearing by mistake; it's especially
obnoxious because one section of the manual deals with Call-in -- not this
section.
I'm trying ONLINE.REFERENCE to see if it is really "like the old ONLINE", and
changing "codexampleintextfont" in the design file to be monospace. If it works,
I'll be happy to use it instead.

| If you send me a file with examples of these problems, I will look
into them and correct them in the next baselevel.
Thanks,
Mary
