60.0. "No <AUTHOR> tag?" by CDROM::JAGGER () Wed Jan 04 1989 11:10

	I was supprised to learn that the <AUTHOR> tag was not available
for use with the ONLINE doctype. Can anyone give me a replacement set of tags
that do the same thing. I am in the process of converting manuals to online.

THANKS

    At this time, the doctype supports the software reference manual
    doctypes required to support DECwindows and VMS operating system
    documentation (the first doc sets that are going online). The
    doctype is based on VMSREF and supports the global tags and the
    command and routine template tags. <AUTHOR> and other tags outside
    of these categories are not yet supported.

60.2<AUTHOR> tag replacement in REPORT doctypeMULLEN::NOBLEBill Noble, MLO21-4/E20, 223-3933Thu Jan 05 1989 07:5633
Here's what I did for the REPORT doctype. Other than adding references to
all <head> tags and putting <online_popup> tags around informal tables, this
was the only change needed.

60.3how about <SIGNATURES> and <BYLINE>?VIA::EPPESI&#039;m not making this up, you knowWed May 30 1990 18:5912
    Any news on the incorporation of non-software-specific tags into the
    online doctypes? I guess this is related to this topic:

    Could the online doctypes please be made to recognize the <SIGNATURES> and
    <BYLINE> tags? Or maybe a REPORT.ONLINE doctype is needed. Then we
    could use it for online versions of doc plans. (Well, we can create
    online versions now, but the "Issued By" and "Approved By" sections look
    terrible... :-) )

    RE: .3.

    Not for DOCUMENT version 2.0, but it's still on the wishlist. One
    of the things we want to happen post V2.0 is to take a look at the
    tags in general and see if more of them can't be global: <signatures>
    and <byline> strike me as good candidates for globalization...

    Thanks,
