My views - not necessarily those of my colleagues.
Some of these comments I've made elsewhere - I think.
Page Comment
1-5 First two sentences seem verbose. How about:
"To request service from VMS we use an
interface called the Digital Command Language (DCL)."
1-6 Line 1: <Nit> english -> English
1-7 Line 3: typo "... in an written..." ->
"... in a written..."
Table heading: "...can Effect..." ->
"...can Affect..."
Body of table: Positional Qualifier:
After the word FILE2.TXT I assumed the word Example:
referred to another example of the positional qualifier
Sorry, just the impression from a first reading
1-11a Sub heading 2.: couple of typos:
managhers -> managers; environement -> environment
1-16 CTRL/T - works only when enabled
1-17 Something I queried before in the first sentence:
"...in response to many of the commands..."
VMS doesn't issue system messages to many commands.
The /LOG qualifier will force -I- or -S- serverity messages
to be emitted. Generally, few messages are issued
for ongoing valid commands.
Probably the text ought to say something like:
"When VMS, through DCL, is unable to understand your
commands, DCL will issue messages. These messages can
tell...".

$PRINT FILE1.LIS /COPIES=2
Why not using this example to explain the bullets
Verb: $help ---> $print
Parameter: $print file1.txt ---> $print file1.lis
Qualifier: Mention the slash "/" You can recognize him from it
Qualifier value:
$print/copies=2 file1.txt --> $print file1.lis/copies=2
Page 1-7: Where is the parameter qualifier. Which I always call they special
qualfiers like there is: TYPE/PAGE

| The following are comments on Module 2 Issuing Commands
Page 1-5. "Common words" could be replaced with "English-like"
Page 1-6. Something should be said somewhere on this page to indicate that
this is a "Command Line" the command is Print.
Page 1-8. The first 2 paragraphs on this page pare Perfect, I couldn't
think of a better way to put it.
Page 1-9. The first 2 bullets on this page are repeated from page 1-9

| Why is there a copy of the sysuaf record in a user-related chapter? In
the pilot class that's going on this week, this caused students to
start asking questions that are not going to be answered for at least
two more days (longer if we keep getting bogged down in the amount of
material in the next few chapters).
