    As part of the OLIS system we use STARS, there's a new version of STARS
    (V2.5-5) now available in fields test version, hopefully the legitimate
    version available before Xmas.
    
    STARS isn't part of EASE so there's no recommended version.
    
    There's no change to the database structure in V2.5-5, so there
    shouldn't be any problem creating, maintaining or accessing STARS
    databases with earlier V2.5-* versions.
    
    This version provides functionality which our users are very interested
    and I'd like to test it.
    
    Questions;
    
    o  Does anybody else use STARS on FUTURS ?
    
    o  Does anybody use STARS on CURRNT
    
    o  Will anyone object if we put the field test version of STARS on
       FUTURS & replace it with the legitimate version when available ?
    
    o  Will anyone object if we put the field test version of STARS on
       CURRNT & replace it with the legitimate version when available ?

	is used by support, but I'm not sure where... check with Dave Otten or Brenda Sayers. Which project is OLIS? I (still) don't have a record of it as an active project.... Peter.

	OLIS stands for OnLine Information System. Maybe still under the umbrella of the PRIMA project for adminstrative purposes, project leader Alan Nicholsby, project manager Francoise Fry. OLIS V1.0 installation kit to go through Release Management around the end of the year - online access to the information contained in the Systems & Options Catalogue, European Sales Update, Customer Product Update and more. For use by Field Service and European ALL-IN-1 users.

	After talking to Brenda Sayers it appears that STARS V2.4-6 is installed on CURRNT. V2.4-6 is a very old version, it crashes if invoked from the $ prompt. I think we can (reasonably) safely assume that STARS is not currently used on CURRNT so please could we instal STARS V2.5-5 ??

	I'd like to re-consider putting STARS V2.5-5 (Field Test) on CURRNT, I feel CURRNT isn't the appropriate place to put a field test version of software, would be better placed on FUTURS. I still need STARS on CURRNT to enable me to build an OLIS installation kit, so PLEASE could we install STARS V2.5-4 (with STARS server enabled) on CURRNT ??

	Have supplied an Keith Davies with an installation kit for STARS V2.5-4. He has agreed to instal it in the next few days. Who uses STARS on FUTURS and what for ?
