It is with deep regret that I have to announce the departure of a well
known (and loved?) system from our midst.
After soldiering on for many years, and having lived through some traumatic
times, and having risen Pheonix like from the ashes, it was all for naught.
SEPTIC, a PDP 11/84, is being switched off for the final time on Thursday,
August 15th, after archive backups have been taken.
It had been used for OAS development and support, and after a six year
migration program, the last users of OAS have been migrated to OEV and
COMAND. (Who said BETA would never work?)
However, the node name will live on in memory of those late nights and
weekends worked to mantain the application....
