402.0. "Paper, paper everywhere ! " by SOOTY::DAW (The Real thing .......) Mon Feb 04 1991 15:08

	Hi Mob,

	Any chance of getting the Datatrieve manuals available in bookreader
	format ? - They seem to be the only manuals permanently unavailable in
	the TPEC library !

402.1Sorry, not available...HEWIE::RUSSELLWell, it was here a minute ago...Mon Feb 04 1991 17:237
Since DTR engineering don't make their manuals available for bookreader,
I'm afraid the answer is no.

I've just checked the latest Software catalog, and the status is
unchanged.

402.2Manual Schmanual !SOOTY::DAWThe Real thing .......Tue Feb 05 1991 14:318
	Well that's very tree-friendly of the DTR bods isn't it ?

	Thanks anyway Peter, although with all your free time, you could have at
	least volunteered to take the SDMl sources of the DTR manuals and
	update them so that they could be processed into bookreader format !

402.4It doesn't take too long either SOOTY::ALFORDAn elephant is a mouse with an operating systemWed Feb 06 1991 09:199
Re:.2

	The problem is usually getting hold of the sources...

	This group has already "bookreadered" a couple of *large* manuals
	for other groups !

	If you get the sources, we can convert them :-)
402.5But, is the manual produced using Document?HEWIE::RUSSELLWell, it was here a minute ago...Wed Feb 06 1991 10:137
As I understand it, some of our documentation is still not produced
using Document, and so it makes it difficult to be able to
Bookreader it.

I dunno when DTR went through it's last major re-write....

    Target First Customer Ship date for Datatrieve V6.0, as supplied by the
    DTR Engineering Group in Varese Italy, is Q3 FY92.

    This version will supposedly incorporate a "FOCUS-like" user interface.

    For more details, the project manager is Federico Macchi @VAR.
    The MRE group has actively collaborated with this ongoing effort by
    Central Engineering.
